1. Principle of extruder
The extruder is also called screw extruder, which consists of feeding system, extrusion system, heating system, cutting system, transmission system and control system.
By the extrusion and advancement of the unequal non-standard spirals of the screws, the air in the material is discharged and quickly filled with the material. The material is affected by the shear force and causes backflow, which increases the pressure in the barrel. As the friction between the screw and the barrel causes the material to be fully mixed, extruded, heated, glued, and gelatinized, the original structure of the material is destroyed and causes structural changes. At the same time, the mechanical energy is converted into heat energy through the friction of the material in the barrel (or external auxiliary heater can be added), so that the material becomes a gelled state with flowing properties. When the material is extruded to the die hole outlet, the pressure instantly changes from high pressure to normal pressure instantly changes from high temperature to normal temperature, causing water to quickly vaporize from the tissue structure, forming countless microporous structures inside, forming puffing.
2. Application of extruder
Since the extrusion process will generate starch gelatinization, protein texturization, particle puffing, sterilization and other characteristics, the extruder can be used in snack food production, breakfast cereal corn flakes production, textured vegetable protein production, pet food production, fish feed production, modified starch production, etc.
